Sick Days in Israel - Rights and Payment 2026
Accrual: 1.5 sick days per month = 18 days per year.
Maximum: Up to 90 sick days accumulated.
Medical certificate: Required from day 1 (recommended), mandatory from day 4.
Sick Day Payment

| Day 4+ | 100% of salary |
Sick Days for a Sick Child
A parent can use up to 8 sick days per year for a sick child (under 16). Single parent: 16 days. Child with serious illness: up to 110 days.
Additional Rights
- Sick days for spouse: Up to 6 days per year
- Sick days for parent: Up to 6 days per year
- No redemption: Unused sick days cannot be cashed out (private sector)
- No deduction from vacation: Employer cannot deduct sick days from vacation days
